Reception Reading and Phonics Workshop

We were delighted to welcome our Reception families into school recently for our Reading and Phonics Workshop. It was wonderful to see so many parents and carers joining us and spending time in the classroom alongside their children.

The workshop was designed to share some of the fun, engaging ways that reading and phonics can be supported at home. Families took part in a range of practical activities, giving children the opportunity to practise their early reading skills through games, challenges and hands-on learning experiences. There was plenty of excitement as children demonstrated their growing confidence with sounds, letters and words, while parents gained ideas and resources to continue supporting learning at home.

One of the highlights of the session was seeing children and adults learning together. The classrooms were filled with enthusiasm, laughter and a real love of reading as families explored activities that can easily be recreated at home. These shared experiences help to build children’s confidence and foster positive attitudes towards reading from an early age.

We would like to say a huge thank you to all the parents and carers who attended. Your support and involvement make a tremendous difference to your child’s learning journey, and it was a pleasure to spend the morning together celebrating the importance of early reading and phonics.

We look forward to welcoming families to more workshops and events throughout the year as we continue to work in partnership to help our children become confident, enthusiastic readers.
