This week, six children from Year 2 and five children from Year 6 proudly represented our school at the Learning Community Trust Bowls Competition at Charlton Bowls Club. For many of the children, this was their first experience of playing bowls, and they embraced the opportunity with enthusiasm, determination and excellent sportsmanship throughout the day. Through a range of fun and engaging activities, the children learnt about the aim of the game, the rules and the equipment used in bowls, while developing their accuracy and control through a variety of skill-based challenges.
During the second half of the session, the children had the opportunity to put their new skills into practice by competing in pairs matches against pupils from other schools. It was fantastic to see the confidence and progress they had made in such a short space of time. Both the Key Stage 1 competition in the morning and the Key Stage 2 competition in the afternoon were closely contested, with the results ending in a tie. The children were excellent ambassadors for the school and should be very proud of the positive attitude, teamwork and resilience they displayed throughout the event.
