As a Trust Appointed Governor at Wrekin View Primary School and Nursery, I am pleased to be a part of the school community. With a professional background spanning 40 years in the automotive industry, I have recently transitioned into a technical consultancy role in the mining sector upon my retirement in 2020.
My governance experience began in 2016 when I became a Co-opted Governor at the Grove School in Market Drayton, where all of my children have attended. In 2021, I was invited to join the Governing Body at Wrekin View School by a fellow governor who was then Head at the school. I firmly believe that strong governance is crucial to achieving good outcomes, and I strive to provide a balanced perspective by drawing on my professional expertise from outside the education sector.
On a personal note, I am married with 3 children and 2 grandchildren. In my spare time, I am a life member and Fixture Secretary of the Market Drayton Rugby Club, as well as a referee and member of the Staffordshire Rugby Union Society of Referees. These interests and hobbies allow me to maintain a healthy work-life balance and contribute to the local community.
At Wrekin View, I currently hold the role of Chair of Governors and serve as the link governor for Leadership and Management. I am passionate about supporting the school’s leadership team and ensuring that the pupils receive the best possible education and opportunities to thrive. My decision to become a governor was driven by a desire to give back to the community and make a positive impact on the lives of young people.
